Seachem Onyx Sand, 7 kg

Onyx Sand™ is a natural dark grey sand that is particularly effective in planted aquariums*, but can also be used in any other aquatic environment. This sand can be mixed with other gravel but it is most effective when used as the sole substrate.

*The natural sand supports optimal KH values ​​in planted aquariums.

Onyx Sand™ is not chemically coated or treated, but as a carbonate-rich sand it can raise the pH of the water slightly - by 0.1 to 0.5 pH. The sand can can be used for the lifetime of the aquarium and does not need to be replaced.

Tip: You don't need a gravel modifier (e.g. laterite).

Recommendations for use:

Onyx Sand™ is pre-washed. However, the sand should be rinsed before use to remove dust that can be caused due to abrasion during transport.

After placing the sand in the aquarium, add water slowly so as not to disturb it. Seachem recommends placing a bowl of water on the sand in the aquarium and allowing the water to overflow slowly over the edges of the bowl. A slight cloudiness is not a cause for concern. You can get rid of the cloudiness by mechanical filtration such as filter floss. To speed up the clarification you can use Seachem Clarity™.
