So I bought the 3.7 litre of Special Blend and the 3.7 litre Aqua Balance. I've a 2000 litre, mixed reef aquarium. Nitrates were creeping up to around 30-35 ppm, (Salifert) and some of my corals were suffering. I was dosing a mixture of Vinegar, sucrose, and vodka, to reduce nitrates, I was struggling to control the Nitrate, even dosing till there were bacterial strings. Phosphate was controlled at 0.03 with a different product. I switched off Ozone, Uv, totally, And Skimmer for a few hours after dosing., and switched activated carbon reactor off totally. So I started dosing a mixture of special blend and aqua balance as per instructions. Continued for 1 week. No difference in Nitrate readings. I up'ed the dose weekly, still the same readings,
until I was dosing 400mls of aqua balance and 400mls of special blend EVERY MORNING before lights on. Now Remember , when using in saltwater to double the dosage on the instructions. I was expecting bacterial blooms, or cloudiness but there was none. So I checked Nitrate readings after 1 week at 400mls + 400mls dosage. I was loosing hope in the product. Amazingly
Nitrates were at 2 - 5ppm, Phosphate was at 0. (Salifert)(So I added Phosphate).
So I've stopped dosing the 2 for 1 week now , and I will check the readings tomorrow, and start on maintenance dose, and update this review.
