Aquael BioCeraMax 600 Filter Medium

BioCeraMAX 600 is a unique contribution that was developed for biological water filtration in freshwater and saltwater aquariums, paludariums, aquaterrariums and terrarium tanks. It has the shape of cylinders made of porous ceramic material, which offer a very large filter area of 600 m2.

How does BioCeraMAX 600 work?
On the inside of the pores of BioCeraMAX 600 cylinders, which are inserted into the aquarium filter over time, useful strains of nitrification bacteria of the genera Nitrosomonas and Nitrospira settle. These microorganisms use metabolic products: ammonia (Nitrosomonas) and nitrites (Nitrospira), which are toxic to fish during their life cycle. Nitrifying bacteria oxidise ammonia and nitrite to nitrates, which are much safer for the inhabitants of the aquarium.

How does BioCeraMAX 600 work?
BioCeraMAX 600 is ideal as a filter bed in canister filters, overflow filters, internal filters with chambers for loose powder (e.g. TURBOFILTER), sump basins, filter chimneys. It can be used in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. It is particularly recommended for aquariums with many and large fish.

How is BioCeraMAX 600 used?
BioCeraMAX 600 is ready to use immediately and does not require rinsing. The contents of the packaging are poured into the filter basket or the filtration chamber. To ensure optimal results, it is recommended to place the BioCeraMAX 600 behind the mechanical filter cartridges and the chemical filter cartridges.

The BioCeraMAX 600 can be used for a very long time without changing it. However, it is subject to slow, gradual wear from crushing, which reduces the effectiveness of its operation. To ensure the best possible effect, it is recommended to replace around a third of the contribution with a new one every 6-12 months.

When cleaning the filter, the cartridge should be rinsed out of the aquarium with water. Do not rinse in tap water to prevent sterilisation.
