Description
The Tetra Test 6in1 is a storage jar with test strips for quick and easy determination of the 6 most important water values in the garden pond.
Water is shaped by its environment and is different everywhere due to various influences. Pure rainwater already absorbs environmental pollutants in the atmosphere. As it seeps into the ground, it becomes groundwater and its chemical composition changes again. Harmful substances for fish and other aquatic organisms can also be contained in drinking water, such as chlorine or copper. It is therefore important to make tap water suitable for fish using a water treatment agent. The water quality in ponds changes due to biological and chemical processes. In order to ensure the best possible environmental conditions for fish, it is advisable to test the water values regularly every week. In special situations, e.g. when setting up the pond or when new fish are to be used in the garden pond, they should even be checked daily. All Tetra products are simple, very precise and use professional methods for determining the chemical water values. They are available for all important water values.
There is no one-size-fits-all recipe for achieving ideal water parameters because each garden pond represents a unique habitat. It is therefore recommended to seek advice on which water values are optimal for your fish, aquatic life and plants.
The Tetra Test 6-in-1 test strips determine the values for the 6 most important water values:
PH value:
The pH value describes one of the most important chemical properties of water: the balance between acids and bases. All fish, plants and microorganisms are very sensitive to drastic and rapid changes in pH.
KH value:
The carbonate hardness (KH) is determined by the concentration of the dissolved bicarbonate in the water. It acts as a pH buffer and thus prevents a sudden drop in pH (acid drop).
GH value:
The water hardness has a major influence on the organic functions of living things in the water. The total hardness (GH) is determined by the concentration of different ions in the water, e.g. Calcium and Magnesium.
Nitrite Test:
In the second stage of the nitrogen cycle, bacteria break down harmful ammonia into toxic nitrite. High NO2 values indicate a malfunction in the biological filter system. This check is indispensable, especially for new installations, filter cleaning or the use of medication!
Nitrate test:
In the third stage of the nitrogen cycle, bacteria convert toxic nitrite to harmless nitrate. Nitrate is a plant nutrient, but in high amounts, it is increasingly harmful to your fish and promotes unsightly algae growth.
Chlorine Test:
Too high a chlorine level harms fish and useful bacteria.
Very easy to use: Pull the test strip through the water a few times. Shake off excess water. After 60 seconds, compare the test sections with the reference scale on the can.
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
With the Tetra Test 6-in-1 you can check the most important water values in just 60 seconds and keep an overview at all times.
