Description
Purigen® is a high quality synthetic adsorbent and a unique organic cleaning resin. In contrast to other ion exchangers or adsorbents, Purigen® consists of a macroporous synthetic polymer. This polymer quickly and effectively removes soluble and insoluble contaminants from water, surpassing the capacity and speed of competing products by more than 500%, according to the manufacturer.
Purigen® is an effective product to keep harmful compounds such as ammonia, nitrites and nitrates in water under control. It eliminates nitrogen-containing organic waste produced by plants, fish and corals that can turn into harmful substances if left unchecked.
Purigen® does not affect trace elements in the water, results in a significant increase in the redox value and leaves the water crystal clear. Once the effect is exhausted and the beads are darkened, Purigen® can be renewed with a simple bleach treatment. It can thus be regenerated and reused an endless number of times!
Recommended use:
Rinse Purigen® before use. Use a fine mesh filter bag and place the system so that the water flows well through the bag. 250 ml Purigen® can treat up to 1000 L of aquarium water for around 6 months. The effect of the beads is exhausted when they appear dark brown to black.
Note: Follow these simple steps to regenerate Purigen®:
- Soak the beads in a 1:1 solution of bleach and water for 24 hours in a non-metallic container and place it in a well-ventilated room. Use a bleach that does not contain any perfumes or dyes - a standard 8.25% hypochlorite bleach for household use is ideal.
- Rinse the beads well and then soak them for a further 8 hours in a solution of 4 tablespoons of Prime® or similar dechlorinator per cup of water. If the beads are to be used in a fresh water aquarium, soak for 4 hours with a solution containing 2 tablespoons of buffer per cup of water.
- Rinse thoroughly again.
- At the end of this process, the beads will regain their original colour and full effect.
