Description
MatrixCarbon™ is a macroporous chemical-mechanical filter medium with highly effective hard coal-based activated carbon. The bead-shaped carbon filter with hydrodynamic properties has extremely tiny cracks and crevices, called macro- and microspores, which allow maximum water flow without escaping from the filter bags.
While microporous carbons are used for air filtration, removing metals and smaller ions such as trace minerals, macroporous carbons such as MatrixCarbon™ are ideal for water filtration, removing larger organic molecules such as nitrogenous waste.
Compared to other carbons, MatrixCarbon™ contains the lowest detectable phosphate content of any carbon brand tested, according to Seachem. When organic matter removal, adsorption rate and service life are taken into account, this filter medium clearly performs better.
Tip: Due to a low ash content, MatrixCarbon™ has almost no effect on the pH value of water - even in case of distilled water, the pH does not rise above 7.0!
MatrixCarbon™ is supplied in Seachem zip bags specifically for Tidal 35, 55, 75 and 110 with durable stitching and a corrosion-resistant zipper. Adapted to each of the filters.
Application recommendation:
Use 250 ml of MatrixCarbon™ in 400 L of water. This dosage is enough for several months. Rinse the activated carbon beads with water before use and use a filter bag when filtering.
