Description
Bucephalandra sp. 'Wave leaf' is native to Borneo and belongs to the genus Aracaea. It is considered to be an endemic species and - like all Bucephalandra plants - it is a typical perching plant that thrives well on wood, coconuts or rocks made of lava, granite or slate. It needs very little fertiliser and is ideal for shady spots as it copes well with low light conditions. It is suitable for the foreground and middle ground as it grows very slowly and reaches about 8 cm in height. The wavy leaf edges, leaf markings and the darker coloured rhizome are particularly attractive.
- Light requirements: variable, low light acceptable
- Optimum temperature: 20 to 26°C
- Water values: 0 - 30°dGH
- pH value: 5 to 7
- Propagation: by dividing the rhizome
- Growth rate: slow
Note: The cups are grown in a lab. Aquatic plants from in vitro culture are sterile. They are therefore also suitable for sensitive animals such as dwarf shrimp and can be used immediately. In vitro plants do not harbour stowaways such as snails or parasites. No pesticides are used.
