Description
This stem plant is a very decorative form of Bucephalandra that can also be planted in the foreground and middle ground thanks to its small appearance - about 8 cm high - and slow creeping growth. It is ideal for planting in hardscape, such as roots and stones. The leaves are particularly attractive: a narrow, elongated shape, finished with crinkled edges. In good conditions, the red colouring intensifies; the structure is bushy and broad - you should therefore allow some space for it to unfold. Pay attention to good water flow, CO2 supply and nutrients!
- Nutrients: CO2 and plant nutrients supply recommended
- Light requirement: medium to strong light
- Water hardness: soft to medium-hard water
- pH value: between 5 to 8
- Temperature: 22 to 28°C
- Propagation: Rhizome division
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
Bucephalandra species are frequently encountered aquarium plants thanks to their variety of forms. The easy-care stem plant is just as attractive as a solitary in hardscapes as it is in group arrangements over a large area, as in nature it densely colonises flood zones of streams. Its versatility should be used accordingly to create a harmonious layout over several levels!
